Qatar Petroleum awards contract for Dukhan seismic survey |

has awarded CGG Veritas of France a contract worth approximately $140m to undertake a very high-density 3D seismic survey across the Dukhan oil and gas field. Work on the project is expected to commence by the end of 2008, with an anticipated duration of three years. QPQP has identified the need for new high quality 3D seismic data over the Dukhan Field to support ongoing field development and fully optimize long-term recovery.
Therefore, QPQP determined that the new Dukhan full field 3D seismic survey needs to be at the cutting-edge of what the seismic industry can offer.
The 3D seismic survey will be a point-source point-receiver configuration requiring massive data handling capacity, 40,000 channel crew, multiple source types, and will be adapted to the various terrains and environments encountered at Dukhan ranging fro shallow marine to sabkha (marshland).
The results of the survey will be used for continued field development and in the assessment of future development options for Dukhan Field aimed at extending the field's producing life by many years, QPQP said.
