Jumeirah set to open hotel in Shanghai |
|
Dubai-based hotel group JumeirahJumeirah
will open its Han Tang Xintiandi hotel in Shanghai, China, in December, Emirates Business has learned. Originally scheduled for launch this month, the hotel will have a total of 338 guest rooms, and conference and banqueting facilities. It will also have a Talise Wellness Spa, JumeirahJumeirah
's global spa brand. The hotel - named after the Han and Tang Dynasties - is designed by New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Architects and Japanese interior design firm Super Potato.
"Jumeirah HanTang will have its soft opening in December," said Guy Crawford, CEO of Jumeirah GroupJumeirah Group
. "We will also open our second Talise Spa in the hotel." The rates at Han Tang Jumeirah are expected to be at the high end among Shanghai hotels, but the group said this is part of its core strategy. The hotel will focus on a specific market and cater particularly to high-end customers.
"We try to trade in the top end of the market because that is where we believe the company is rightly positioned. We want people to associate the word JumeirahJumeirah
with luxury and high service standards," Crawford said. "Our strategy is to continue delivering exceptional service to guests," he added. "It's easy to say in words but we genuinely believe that if we continuously do that in a consistent manner across the world and not just in Dubai, it will make a difference and people will come back."
In February 2006, JumeirahJumeirah
was appointed by Shanghai Lixing Hotel Limited, a joint venture between Shanghai Hotel Investment Limited and Shui On Private Group, to manage one of Shanghai's most prestigious new hotel developments in the downtown area of Xintiandi. As the first branch of JumeirahJumeirah
in the Asia Pacific region, HanTang Jumeirah Shanghai will be part of Xintiandi's retail, dinning and entertainment centre in the heart of downtown Shanghai.Crawford declined to comment specifically on the Chinese market but said JumeirahJumeirah
plans to grow its portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts worldwide to 60 by 2012. He said projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Aqaba, Doha, Phuket, Shanghai, Argentina, Mallorca and London are well underway and the company is also keen to expand in Europe and the US.By Karen Remo-Listama
