Kuwait's Equate Petchem Starts Up New Ethylene Plant - Report |

DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Kuwait-based Equate Petrochemical CoEquate Petrochemical Co
. said it started operating its second ethylene plant, the official Kuna news agency reports Monday.
"EquateEquate
started commercial operations at its plant on Nov. 20," the petrochemical producer said, according to Kuna.
The 850,000-ton-a-year plant, part of EquateEquate
's $3 billion Olefins II complex, will convert ethane into ethylene to make ethylene glycol, commonly used as an antifreeze agent in automobile cooling systems.
EquateEquate
is majority owned by Dow Chemical Co.Dow Chemical Co.
and Petrochemical Industries Co., or PICPetrochemical Industries Co., or PIC
.
The project was completed within four years, Kuna reports.
