. The company was incorporated in 1979 under the name of Arabian General Investment Corporation (AGICO), which was created for the purpose of investing and promoting capital flows into the Arab region.
Beginning in 2000, SHUAA Capital augmented its own investment activities to hold a broad range of financial services including asset and portfolio management, capital markets, regional brokerage and portfolio advisory services, corporate finance advisory services and private equity. As on 30 September 2005, its total client assets under management stood at USD 2.05 billion.
As part of its asset and portfolio management services, SHUAA Capital currently sponsors and manages six investment funds targeting the Arab region and manages another 5 third party investment funds sponsored by leading financial institutions also in the Arab region.
SHUAA Partners, the private equity division of SHUAA Capital sponsors and manages, jointly with Capital Trust Group, a USD 55 million private equity fund, MENAVEST, targeting the Middle East and North Africa markets. It also sponsors and manages a USD 200 million private equity fund, SHUAA Partners Fund I, that aims to achieve long term capital appreciation through selected direct equity, debt and/or equity related investment in mature businesses based in GCC, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.
